The chief and people of Gurugu Yapalsi community in the Sagnarigu Constituency can now have a sigh of relief, after the Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr. Attah Issah cleared a huge refuse dump in the area.
The NDC parliamentary candidate took the initiative upon himself to evacuate the refuse in the area, after the people of the community appealed to him to assist them in that regard.
They claimed that the refuse dump was abandoned for over several years and is located at the center of the community, which they described as a threat to their health.
The people made the appeal when the NDC parliamentary candidate visited the community to ascertain the sanitation condition in the area.

Assemblyman of the area Fuseini Nindow in an interview with Diamondfmonline.com described the intervention by the Sagnarigu NDC (PC) as timely since rubbish and other dirt materials always goes to people’s homes anytime there is a heavy wind in the area.
Mr. Fuseini Nindow, while thanking the NDC PC for the gesture, also indicated that the unbearable foul smell emanating from the dump is a worry to them. He said it has led to the influx of insects, particularly houseflies to the area.
He said his outfit together with other community members made several pleas to get the management of the Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly evacuate the refuse but all fell on deaf ears.
He has therefore called on the management of the Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly to introduce pay before you dump policy in the area. “Now that the refuse has been cleared I think it is important for Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly to provide the area with a dustbin container to curb the situation”, he said.
On her part, Madam Mariam popularly called Aunty a food vendor within the community, stated, “we have been battling with this refuse for so long. This is my chop bar I used to sell food, but people stop patronizing my food because of this huge refuse dump and this has forced me to run out of the business.”
She said the intervention of the NDC parliamentary candidate Attah Issah, has brought a sigh of relief to them, and she thus, thanked him for the gesture.
The NDC parliamentary candidate maintained his readiness to make Sagnarigu a clean constituency in the Northern Region. He indicated his main priority is to develop Sagnarigu which includes improving the sanitation issues in the constituency.
