MTN extends a hand of support to the Tamale Central Mosque ahead of Eid celebration

Mobile Telecommunication giant, MTN Ghana has made a donation to the Central Mosque in Tamale in preparations towards this year’s Eid-ul-fitr celebration.

The items which included bags of rice, a ram, vegetable oil, soft drinks and bottled water were presented by officials of MTN Ghana to the leadership of the Central Mosque in Tamale at a short ceremony on Tuesday.

Regional Manager of MTN, Kwami Aseye Aggudey, who led his team to make the presentation, said the gesture was made in the spirit of the Eid celebrations which climaxes a month long of Ramadan, which enjoin Muslims faithfuls to fast, pray and offer alms to the needy.

According fo Mr. Agudey MTN through its MTN Ghana Foundation has made it an annual ritual to support the Muslims community across the country during such celebrations.

“This is an annual activity for us at MTN and this is the 12th year in a row. We know that in times like this, a lot of responsibility is shouldered by the regional chief imam’s office, especially during festive occasions and for the Muslim leadership to be able to attend to the needs of the community, MTN has come to their assistance with such items. This is in order to putting smiles on the faces of the have-nots among the Muslims community,” Mr. Agudey remarked.

The gesture, the mobile operator added, was a way of giving back to the community for their loyalty especially in patronage of their mobile services.

A Represenattive of the Tamale Central Mosque, Alhaji Abdullah Abdul-mumin Hindu, on behalf the Regional chief Imam, Alhaji Abdul Salam Ahmed, commended MTN Ghana Foundation for the gesture, which he added “has become an annual ritual or gesture of support to the Muslim community.”

He said the donation over the years has been worthwhile considering the number of beneficiaries families and indiciels that recieve the items annually during Eid.

The Muslims leadership thereby prayed for the company’s growth so that they will be in the position to come to their assistance yearly.
