Newly elected executives of DAYA sworn into office

The newly elected national executives of the Dagbon Youth Association (DAYA), have been sworn into office with a call on them to ensure peace and unity within the Dagbon Traditional Area.

They include Mr. Adam Baba Issifu, President, Dr. Marzuq Abubakari, First Vice President, Dr. Fati Iddrisu, Second Vice President and Alhaji Jagbo Baako as General Secretary.

Others are: Mr. Haruna Mohammed Mburidiba, Mr. Mohammed Hudu Salam and Zakaria Mohammed Taufique as 1st, 2nd and 3rd Assistant General Secretaries respectively. The rest are; Dr. Alhassan Nagumsi, National Treasurer, Al-hassan Ibrahim, National Organizing Secretary and their respective deputies and Halid Abu Ishmail as the Communications Director.

The national executives of DAYA at a short ceremony in Yendi on Sunday July 31, 2022 took the oath of allegiance and oath of secrecy.

The Overlord of Dagbon, Ndan Yaa Naa Abukari II who witnessed the swearing-in ceremony at the Gbewaa Palace in his welcome remarks commended the current and the immediate past national executives of DAYA for their effort towards ensuring a successful Extraordinary National Delegates Conference in Tamale.

The King while praising DAYA executives, also implored them to work as a group to enable them cement the existing peace and unity within the Dagbon Traditional Area and the Northern Region as a whole.

“Let me advice you to be patient with each other in your activities, remain united as a group and shun bitterness amongst your ranks, you have to see yourself as a group, and must work in the collective interest of the people of Dagbon”, he advised.

“I am happy that you have decided to revamp the group, to continue the work of your forebearers, to add your quota to the development of Dagbon, and I believe that this would encourage the younger ones to emulate the steps you have taken today so that in future they would also take up the responsibility to continue the work,” he stated.

The king of Dagbon further urged the current DAYA executives to ensure a broader consultation and engagement with the past executives and other relevant stakeholders in their activities.

On his part the president of Dagbon Youth Association (DAYA), Adam Baba Issifu, while describing the day as memorable day, assured the king of Dagbon of their readiness to be guided by his admonishment. “It is our intention to consolidate the peace and unity to realize the needed development for everybody in Dagbon and beyond.”

“It is our intention to ensure that we work for development and redeem the recognition of Dagbon in its proper place in the community of nations”, he assured.
