Assembly man for Agric/Mohiyabihi Electoral Area accuses Tamale Mayor of running a ‘one man show’

Assembly man for Agric/ Mohiyabihi Electoral Area of the Tamale Metropolis in the Northern Region, Hon Salifu Mohammed Mutala, is alleging that the actions by the Mayor of Tamale Hon. Sule Salifu, since he took office at the assembly have been inimical to the development of the Metropolis.

He among other things alleged that the Mayor ever since he took office has not initiated any developmental project or taken up plans that will impact the lives of the people within the Metropolis.

Hon. Mohammed Mutala also alleged that the Mayor of Tamale failed to consult the General Assembly, hence the persistent delay in clearing the rubbish generated at the various electoral areas within the Metropolis.

The Agric/Mohiyabihi Assembly Man made these allegations on Diamond FM’s Siasa Saha, a Dagbani political talk show on Monday August 1, 2022 when he appeared on the show to explain why the heap of rubbish at the Agric forest reserve has not been attended to for several months.

“In fact, we are in this mess because of bad leadership. When Hon. Musah Superior was in office, though we used to have same challenges, but he used to make sure we use one or two months to deliberate on issues affecting the Metropolis most especially sanitation issues, but if you are a leader and you think that you can do anything in your office without any consultation, this is how it will be. That is the leadership of this current Mayor of Tamale,” he alleged.

“Currently, as we speak, we can’t remember the last time we had a general assembly meeting. Ever since we failed to elect a presiding member for the assembly almost six months ago. And all these boils down to the bad leadership by this current Mayor,” he said.

“Ask the Mayor whether he has ever made any official advance to assembly members for us to come and sit down to deliberate on issues or pass bills most especially the mid-year budget to enable the assembly execute its developmental projects,” he queried.

“We have not reviewed any committee or passed any bill for the assembly to carry out its mandatory duty for the past six months. The assembly is now operating in the office of the Mayor with his party boys. This thing has taken us to a level that, the man is not ready to work for the Tamale Metropolis,” he alleged.

Hon. Salifu Mohammed Mutala in his submission, also explained that, “that is why, I always advice that, it is important for our leaders to assess any government appointee before he or she is given the mandate to avoid this type of leadership.
