Management of the Tolon District Hospital, has on Tuesday July 12, 2022 taken delivery of 100 Anti-Snake Venom (ASV) and several types of health-improving medicines from the member of parliament (MP) for Tolon constituency Alhaji Habib Iddrisu.
The drugs valued at GHC 51,000 aimed at equipping the capacity of the facility to ensure the hospital deliver quality healthcare to the people of Tolon and its adjoin districts.
The medications include amoksiclauv syrup, paracetamol tablets, metronidazole, amoxicillin, cefuroxime table. The rest were; Cefuroxime syrup, Amoksiclauv tablets, lactose syrup, inj Artemether and Anti-Snake Venom (ASV).
The donation of the medications is in response to the requests made by the management of the hospital who personally informed the MP about unavailability of assorted medications in the facility when he visited the hospital in September last year.
Dr Osman Abdulai, Medical Superintendent of the facility, who received the items on behalf of the management while expressing gratitude to the MP for his continued support to the hospital, also indicated that, the donation was timely because the hospital has run out of basic medications most especially Anti-Snake Venom (ASV).
He said the hospital since they started operations in January 2022 was yet to receive assorted drugs from the Central Medical Stores and this has compelled patients who patronize the facility to purchase medications outside the hospital.
“The donation has come at the right time because we just runout of the last consignment he gave us. This is a farming season where majority of people in this area are farmers. So, we do get a lot of snake bites during this period, and so the donation will provide a relief to the people in Tolon District and it adjoin districts”, he said.
Dr Osman Abdulai in an interview with Diamondfmonline.com revealed that, the hospital since its operations seven months ago, have rendered medical services to over 8,000 patients and delivered over 700 pregnant women of the Tolon and its adjoin districts.
He said though despite these records about the hospital, the facility still faces series of challenges hence, the need for his attention to help curb the menace.
On his part, the Deputy Majority chief whip who doubles as the MP for Tolon Alhaji Habib Iddrisu, stated that “the health needs of my constituents remain one of my biggest priorities, and I shall continue to deliver on that pledge.
This is not the first the MP is making a robust intervention benefitting the facility, his heartfelt donation consists of the provision of seed capital for the hospital and different kinds of medical items.
