The Northern Regional Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Alhaji Gbewaa, has been granted bail after he was detained overnight by the police.

Chairma Gbewaa was met by the party supporters who had camped at the police station after he was detained on Monday afternoon. 

Alhaji Gbewaa allegedly assaulted the Northern Regional Treasurer of the NDC Hajia Shamima at the party regional office during a regional executives meeting. 

Chairman Gbewaa reported at the Regional Police Headquarters in Tamale on Monday January 15, 2024. after being declared wanted. 

Gbewaa Youth Group, a sympathizer of the NDC besieged the party regional office on Tuesday and locked up the place to protest his detention. 

They consider it a simple assault which should be handled by the executives and not the police.  

But Alhaji Gbewaa who is also known as ‘Chairman Gbewaa’ was charged and arraigned before the court on Tuesday.
