Member of Parliament (MP) for Salga North Constituency, Honorable Abdallah Alhassan Iddi, has donated an ultramodern canoe to the people of Kijipulari, a farming community in the North East Gonja District of the Savannah Region.
The presentation of the canoe was in response to the needs presented by the Assembly man of the area who complained to him through the District Assembly about the dilapidated canoe they have in the community.
The presentation was done by the District Chief Executive of North East Gonja District Honorable Mohammed Musah Tindawu, and the Salga North constituency Organizer of NPP, Mohammed Yahaya Shani on behalf of the MP.
The DCE in his short remarks noted that the gesture by the MP aim at ensuring free movement of people in the community to other neighbouring settlements most especially Jinlow community adding “the people of Kijipulari community will now have access to a modern canoe that would transport them to the neighboring communities and market places”.
Honorable Musah Tidawu indicated that, Kijipulari had been one of the communities that served as the food baskets for the North East Gonja District but often cut off by the river between Jinlow and Kijipulari during raining season and he was hopeful the canoe would make things better, and promise more of such support.
He commended the chiefs and people of Kijipulari for their contribution towards food security in the area and the nation as a whole.
The chiefs and people of Kijipualri who could not hide their excitement thanked the MP for his efforts towards transforming the area.
They indicated that the gesture would go a long way to relieve farmers from extravagant cost in transporting their farm produce to the market centres, and assured him of regular maintenance and effective utilization of the canoe. They also prayed for the MP and the DCE for their benevolence and also wished them well in their future undertakings.
