Assalaam Organization for Humanitarian Services holds graduation ceremony for students who have memorized the Qur’an

Al-Ubai Bin-Ke’ab, a Qur’an Memorization Center under the auspices of Assalaam Organization for Humanitarian Services in the Northern Region, have over the weekend passed out 18 students at its first graduation ceremony.

The graduates who were all males received certificates after going through one and a half year course in memorizing the full Quran at the Centre.

In his address, Director of the Assalaam organization, Alhaji Al-Habib Daud Adabiya indicated that the initiative was part of activities his organization had taken to expand the knowledge of Islam in the Northern Region.

He emphasized the need for parents and guardians to invest in their children’s Arabic education. And thus, urged them to prioritize Arabic education as the best means to save them and their children in the hereafter.

“We are not ending here, but will continue to impart Islamic knowledge into the younger ones,” he assured.

He also commended the Arabic Instructors at the centre for their continued efforts towards imparting the knowledge of Islam into the younger generation within the Northern Region.

Other speakers including Sheikh Abubakari Gariba, a renowned Islamic scholar within the Tamale Metropolis also echoed the need for graduates to make what they have acquired more relevant to societal needs.

He called on traditional leaders within the Northern Region to make lands available to enable Islamic organizations establish more Qur’anic memorizing centers in the region.

On his part, the leader of the center, Mohammed Bashir, while touching on the Al-Ubai Bin-Ke’ab role in promoting Islamic knowledge within the Northern Region, commended the leadership for their humanitarian service to the Umma and for ensuring such initiatives urged chiefs to support the initiatives. “This type of initiative should be supported by our Muslim chiefs. It is commendable, I think it will go a long way to encourage the younger ones to emulate and take their Qur’anic studies seriously,” he said.

The center also awarded parents of the graduates with certificates, Qurans and an undisclosed amount of money.

Several personalities including N’yab Sagnarigu Kukuo Naa, N’yab Kalari Naa, parents among other dignitaries graced the occasion.

There were Quranic recitations from some of the graduates at the end of the gathering.
