NDC Youth Group locked up party Regional Office in Tamale

Some youth group believed to be affiliated to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of the Tamale Metropolis in the Northern Region on Tuesday August 23, 2022 stormed the party regional office and lock up their Regional Secretary offices.

The youth group numbering over 20 besiege the party office and vandalized properties amidst with gunshots in protest against the selection of Adolf Ali as Acting Chairman of NDC in the Northern Region.

“We will not allow anyone to destroy our party in the region. We will not allow any ordinary person to be our chairman, unless Chairman Velim”, they said.

The NDC in the Northern Region after the demise of its Northern Regional Chairman Alhaji Abdulai Ibrahim Mobila, in consultation with the National Executives nominated Adolf Ali as Acting Regional Chairman.

The party in a statement signed by its Regional Secretary Mohammed Abdul Salam, said “Adolf is expected to superintend over the affairs of the largest opposition party in the region until when the NDC goes to elect new Regional Executives”.

However, supporters of Alhaji Rufai Velim have since rubbished the decision describing it as null and void.

Well-armed Police personnel were swiftly deployed to maintain law in the area.

Meanwhile, diamondfmonline.com gather that, the Northern Regional Secretary of NDC Mohammed Abdul Salam has since reported the incident to the Regional Police Command.
