The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Tolon Constituency, Alhaji Habib Iddrisu, has began the construction of 21 boreholes in deprived communities within his constituency.
The move forms part of the MPs efforts towards addressing the plight of the people of Tolon constituency with regard to the unavailability of potable drinking water.
The project which was made possible through a collaboration between the office of the MP and Tolon District Assembly, will see to the provision of water for the constituents, help reduce water crisis to its barest minimum, and also reduce the rate of water-borne diseases in the area.
This is the first phase of the project initiated and funded by the Member of Parliament for Tolon constituency.
The beneficiary communities includes, Nyankpala North, Nyankpala South, UDS Nyankpala Campus, Gbulahigu, Dingoni, Waribogu, Tolon SHS, Tolon community, Tolon District Assembly, Sabegu community, Dabogushee, Kpaligung, Yogu community, Wayamba, Gburimani Tibogu, Bunyili, Tali community, Nagbiligu, Wantugu, Gbambaya Kuraa, Kuriti Kuraa etc.
This is the single largest initiative ever made in the Tolon District to address the water challenges of the area. According to the MP, he will not sit aloof while his people suffer.The project is the most comprehensive touching all angles within the constituency.
Meanwhile, chiefs and community members of the beneficiary communities, in an interaction with Diamondfmonline.com expressed gratitude to the MP and the District Assembly for their collaborative effort in providing the water facility.
“We are very grateful to our MP and we hope he will continue like this, because we have been battling with water related diseases. Look, people are resorting to unclean water” and so we think that this will go a long way to address our concerns “, they said.
