Tamale Metropolitan National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) held end of year staff awards

The Metropolitan National Health Insurance Authority (NHIS) held an end of year get-together and staff awards event to reward members of staff who have distinguished themselves in their line of duty.

The occasion was also meant to bring the entire staff together to socialize at the end of the year. During the event, various categories of awards were given to individuals.

Staff were treated to good music and good meals and they were full of merriment. Awardees received citations and cash awards. In all, Iddrisu Abdul Somed, a driver of the scheme was adjudged the Overall Best Worker in the institution in the year 2023.

In his remarks, the Manager of the Tamale Metropolitan National Health Insurance Authority Mr. Abdulai Ganiu Ahmed, said the gathering gives Management the opportunity to commend staff for their hard work which has enabled the institution to achieve its target.

“After a long year of working we have decided to come together with the support of the welfare of the scheme to award the hard working and deserving staff. We have categorized the awards into two; Best Worker and those who fought against illegal co-payment at the accredited health facilities. The reason why we award them is that, we saw the difficulties they went through in fighting against these illegal payment. At the end of the day, we were able to retrieve about GHC 22,000 which was illegally taken from our clients. That is the reason we have decided to award them in the form of citation”, he said.

He said management of the NHIA had put some measures in place to suspend some accredited health facilities who extort money from their clients.
