Two persons have been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing two people at Jantong Daashei in the North East Gonja District of the Savanna Region.
According to the North East Gonja District Chief Executive (DCE) Mohammed Musah the shooting and burning of three houses erupted after a plan to enskin a rivalry chief for the community which were opposed by another rivalry gate.
He indicated that adequate security personnel have since been stationed at the community to avert further attack.
A woman and her younger brother were reportedly shot dead at Jantong Daashei in the North East Gonja District of the Savanna Region following a renewed chieftaincy dispute in the area.
The deceased persons are Seidu Abdulai and Seidu Hawa, was killed during a sporadic shooting in the earlier hours of Wednesday 16th March, 2022.
Five persons was reportedly sustained gunshot wounds and have since been admitted at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) for treatment.
Assemblyman of the area, Inusah Hamza Lansah in an interaction with Diamondfmonline.com indicated that the deceased persons have been deposited at the TTH for autopsy and preservation.
Several community members most especially women and children have since fled the area for fear of their lives.
Jantong Daashei has been a conflict area for several years ever since misunderstanding emerge between the two royals, Haruna Yahaya gate and the Zakaria Sakara gate, over who is rightful chief for the area.
