“I am not ready to work with any supporter or party executive who attack my opponent”, Sule Salifu

An aspiring parliamentary candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tamale Central constituency, Honorable Sule Salifu, has cautioned his supporters to desist from attacking his opponent in the impending NPP Parliamentary Primaries race.

According to him, this is a family contest hence it is important to ensure peace and unity during and after the elections. “I am not ready to work with any supporter or any party executive who will attack any of the candidates. I want to work with them as brothers and sisters in the same family. I will support anybody especially those contesting with me, if they win the elections as candidates of the Tamale Central constituency”, he assured.

He explained further that, “I equally expect them to talk to their supporters to desist from doing that because like we all said, at the end of the day, we need each other to be able to come together to form a formidable team to win the Tamale Central seat. The seat is winnable”.

Honorable Sule Salifu who is also the Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive, made these remarks after submitting his nomination forms to contest the Tamale Central NPP parliamentary primaries.

He believed that with peace and unity, the ruling NPP in the Tamale Central constituency is capable of winning the seat in the area.

“Nobody thought that Abu Jinapor could have won the Damongo seat. Nobody thought Honorable Anta could have won the Karaga seat. But as of today that we are speaking, these are Members of Parliament in those constituencies representing the New Patriotic Party, and I am saying that with unity and the support of everybody, if we put our energies together, Tamale Central seat would be won by the NPP in the next two years”, he said.

In his remarks, the constituency chairman Alhaji Bashiru, also encouraged the aspirants to run a clean campaign devoid of insults and personal attacks. “Our main priority is to win the seat from the National Democratic Congress NDC”, he said.

The Mayor of Tamale Honorable Sule Salifu will face-off with Mr Abass Zakaria, and Ismail Yahuza.

Several personalities including Yendi Member of Parliament, Farouk Aliu Mahama, MCE for Sagnarigu, Ahmed Yakubu Mohammed, Second Regional Vice Chairman of NPP Alhaji Abdul Rahaman Salihu Mahama and some polling station executives and electoral area coordinators were at the constituency office to witness the filing process.

The NPP has scheduled Saturday, September 23, 2023, to Saturday, December 2, 2023, to organize Parliamentary Primaries in the constituencies where the party has no representation.
