NPP Delegates must vote out current Regional Executives- COCPA

Coalition of Concerned Patrons (COCPA) of the  New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern Region, ahead of the upcoming Regional Delegates elections, are calling on the delegates to vote out the current NPP Northern Regional executives.

According to the group, the current NPP Northern Regional executives had failed the region hence there is the need to kick all of them out.

“For instance, we could have won Savelugu seat creditably well if these executives extended their support to the then MP but they left him to fight his own battle. Also, in Sagnarigu, Honorable Felicia Tettey needed just a little push to send A.B. A Fuseini out to secure the seat for the party. Talking about this, bring to mind Tamale Central Constituency, Dr. Barhama Anyass needed a little force to push away a once disappointed former Nanton M.P to secure the seat for the current government”, they narrated.

“Wulunsi seat could have been secured, if the regional executives step in to unite them. Because, Wulunsi went to the polls with a divided front and this caused NPP to lose the seat in that constituency, and generally the hang parliament”.

Convener of the group Yussif Sule, at a press briefing on Tuesday May 24, 2022, said the regional executives led by Chairman Samba throughout their four years in charge in the region had neglected the cŋouncil of Elders, Patrons and grassroots of the party therefore, they do not  deserve a second chance to lead the party in the region.

STATEMENT PRESENTED IN A PRESS CONFERENCE BY COALATION OF CONCERN PATRONS (COCPA)
THEME:
A CALL FOR A COMPLETE CHANGE OF THE REGIONAL SET-UP

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen of the press. It is not hidden from everyone that the great N.P.P. is going to elect all its 16 regional executives come 27th May, 2022 and Northern region is not an exception, but for we, as coalition of concern patrons (COCPA) believes that, for us as a party to have a vibrant front, we called on all delegates to learn from the constituency elections by wiping away completely, all the current regional executives or regional set-up due to the following under listed reasons:

First and foremost, Neglect of Council of elders and patrons of the region. ladies and gentlemen, it is not a hidden fact that for any party to progress or perform creditably, It needs to consider its council of elders as their outmost priority. In our case, ever since the current regional set-up was elected into office, they have consistently and deliberately neglected the Regional Council of elders and patrons, an issue of great concern. These executives failed woefully to engage the services of our regional of council of elders who could have offer greater ideas to strengthen the success and chance of the party in the region. In other to uplift the hearts of the council of elders and patrons, it is a prudent to wipe out entirely the current regional set up to pave way for new set of executives who will always take advice from our elders, for there is a saying that “if an elder, lucks anything, he will always offer wisdom”.

Ladies and Gentlemen, another reason worth mentioning is the neglect of the grassroots in the entire region. It is an undeniable fact that ever since these executives were voted, they have consistently neglected the party grassroots a situation which let many helpless. For instance, opportunities that were meant for the youth are being hijacked. Again, during the 2020 electing, monies that were meant for polling agent were being squandered by constituency executives, we cried, yet no regional executive could come to our aid. Aside that one, it is alleged that job opportunities that were meant for the same grassroots in the region was again sold out to non-members of the party with some regional executives denying their fellowpatrons these opportunities, what is more to this than pure injustice and wickedness?

We can boast that no one in our constituency (Tamale south) was given these opportunities and this cut across the whole constituencies in the region, and if anyone thinks we not being factual, that fellow should come out to prove us wrong.

Finally, the inability of the regional executives to assist in the various constituencies cannot be left out. One painful thing that is unforgettable is the fact that this current regional set-up in their own wisdom failed to assist all the constituencies to win their seats, instead, they only align themselves to constituencies they thought they could get monies from. For instance, we could have won Savelugu seat creditable well if these executives extended their support to the then MP but they left him to fight his own battle. Also, in Sagnarigu, Hon. Felicia Tettey needed just little a push to send A.B. A. Fuseini out to secure the seat for the party. Talking about this, bring to mind Tamale Central Constituency, Dr. Barhama Anyass needed a little force to push away a once disappointed former Nanton M.P to secure the seat for the current government.

Lastly, Wulunsi seat could have been secured, if the regional executives step in to unite them, because Wulunsi went to the polls with a divided front and this caused NPP to lose the seat in that constituency and generally the hang parliament.

In conclusion, ladies and gentlemen of the media, we would like to appeal to all the electorates who will be going to the polls on the 27th May, 2022, to have it at the back of their minds,  the under listed points and more that is known to them, as part of the reasons why we cannot boast of the popularity of the party in the region and the reason why we are calling for a complete renovation of the regional executives.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the press thank you very much for coming.
