6 Unit-Classroom Block in the Tolon District ripped off by rains

A six-unit classroom block of the St Monica Junior High School of Nyankpala in the Tolon District of the Northern Region was destroyed last Friday by a heavy rainstorm.

Portion of the Primary Block of the same school were also ripped off.

Sources at the school say about 160 pupils occupying the six-unit classroom block have been displaced.

On Monday May 23, 2022, the affected school students were seen loitering around the bush while others were seen having conversation with friends in an open place.

The affected students in a short video cited by Diamondfmonline.com appealed to government to come to their aid and fix the school for them to resume effective teaching and learning activities.

“We are begging our DCE, our MP and our President to come and help us because our school roof has been destroyed and we cannot learn. We cannot write our exams if it is not fixed”.

The school had already battled with similar challenge years ago which the district authority was yet to address before the latest disaster. The current crisis the school is faced with makes getting infrastructure solution daunting.

Established about 50 years ago, the Nyankpala St Monica JHS grapples with infrastructure challenges.

Meanwhile, Diamondfmonline.com in an attempt to speak to the head teacher of the school provide futile.
