Some National Democratic Congress (NDC) youth of the Mion Constituency in the Northern Region, have called on the leadership of the party to ban former Member of Parliament (MP) Honorable Mohammed Abdul Aziz and the 2020 parliamentary aspirant Dr. Mu-awia Zakaria from contesting the 2024 parliamentary primaries in the area.
According to the youth, this will ensure unity and cohesion within the party in the constituency.
The youth in a press statement copied to diamondfmonline.com, accused the former MP of causing disunity among the members of the party.
“Hon. Aziz is never a unifier. He lacks the capacity to carry everybody together which is a foundation upon which we can win the seat. He survives on divide and rule tactics. Knocking one village or community against the other. He uses Konkonbas against Dagombas just to score cheap political points”.
“Aziz is the most arrogant person on planet earth. He has an inflated ego. He alone knows everything. No one knows anything. He prosecuted the campaign on his self- centered ideas. He would not allow other groups to help him. He went to many communities to campaign with only two people just to take credit for himself after he wins”, the statement added.
They further indicated that the former MP only visits the constituency when there is an election for him to contest. “He comes only to contest elections and runs away and only re-appear when there is an election for him to contest. We have still not finish clearing the mess he created for us in 2016. He refuses to join the campaign team in 2016 and 2020 and admonish all his supporters to join the NPP. In fact, 95% of his supporters voted for the NPP in the last election”.

MION YOUTH WANTS FORMER MP HON. MOHAMMED ABDUL AZIZ AND DR. MU-AWIA ZAKARIA BARRED FROM CONTESTING THE 2024 PARLIAMENTARY PRIMARIES TO PAVE WAY FOR UNITY AND COHESION IN THE CONSTITUENCY
All media houses present here, both print and electronic media, council of elders of our party, branch executives, constituency executives, representatives from all the eight zones, ladies and gentlemen.
We first of all want to use this opportunity to congratulate the current executives for coming out successfully in the just ended constituency conference. We also want to thank all those who lost in that election and have proved themselves to be GOOD LOSERS. We wish to remind all and sundry that in INTRA-PARTY ELECTIONS, there are no winners and no losers. At the end of the process, the party is the ultimate winner.
Mion youth therefore want to pledge our unflinching support to the newly elected constituency executives to assist them steer the affairs of the party for the next four years. We wish them ALL THE LUCK UNDER THE SUN.
The way the branch executives in their own wisdom chose officers from all the corners of the constituency is heartwarming. For us, the decision made by the branch executives in the conference is aimed at bringing talents in the constituency together to work at the very top level in the constituency. The outcome of the constituency conference alone shows that we have taking a giant step towards recapturing the seat from the under pressure NPP.
Ladies and gentlemen, our friends in the media, there is however an eminent threat to our forward match towards recapturing the Mion seat from the under pressure NPP.This threat is THE INTENSE RIVERY BETWEEN Hon.Mohammed Abdul Aziz and Dr.Mu-Awia Zakaria in the constituency.
The following reasons justify why Hon. Aziz coming back will not yield any good results for the NDC.

HON.AZIZ IS THE MOST ARROGANT PERSON ON PLANET EARTH, He has an inflated ego. He alone knows everything. No one knows anything. He prosecuted the campaign on his self- centered ideas. He would not allow other groups to help him. He went to many communities to campaign with only two people just to take credit for himself after he wins.
HON.AZIZ IS JUST TOO GREEDY, why should a former MP after collecting his ex gratia come back to the constituency and start hijacking old pickups from party officers and expects same people to work for you to win again. Nobody in the constituency ever thought he will ever stage any comeback with this selfish and greedy attitude.
HON AZIZ HAS NO SLEEPING PLACE IN THE WHOLE CONSTITUENCY,for four years he has never slept in the constituency, something the NPP use to their advantage. If you have no room to sleep there how do you appreciate the plight of the people and find amicable solution to those problems.
HON.AZIZ IS A WILLING GIVER OF BRIBE. This gentleman can corrupt even the Pop at the Vartican or the national Chief Imam in Accra.With this attitude he has corrupted a lot of very fantastic people in the constituency. These individuals are not able to tell the truth any more. We don’t want this in Mion Constituency.
Again on the same score, Dr. Mu-AWIA should not appear in the scene because of the following reasons.
He comes only to contest elections and runs away and only re-appear when there is an election for him to contest. We have still not finish clearing the mess he created for us in 2016. He refuses to join the campaign team in 2016 and 2020 and admonish all his supporters to join the NPP.In fact, 95% of his supporters voted for the NPP in the last election.
He is in constant touch with his support base and they have vowed to vote for NPP again should AZIZ wins the primaries.
This man don’t even know the house he comes from in the whole constituency. He has not for even once slept in the constituency.
The regional executive must invoke the agreement sign by parliamentary aspirants in the 2020 elections between them and the aspirants to sanction defeated candidates who failed to participate in the 2020 elections. This agreement must be looked at and culprits like DR. Mu-Awia punished severely.
The two of them do not have the constituency at heart; they are only using it as an avenue to solicit funds from people for their own benefits.
In conclusion, We hereby called on our party leadership at the constituency, regional and national levels to do everything humanly possible to stop the two individuals from contesting the 2024 parliamentary primaries since we do not want a repeat of what happened in 2016 in 2020.In our opinion, the only way we can recapture the Mion seat is to look for a compromised and an acceptable candidate for the two factions.
We are also recommending strongly to party leadership to come to the constituency and do an independent investigation of all the issues we have raised.
