The former Member of Parliament (MP) for Mion constituency, Honorable Mohammed Abdul Aziz, has taken a swipe at some National Democratic Congress (NDC) youth of the Mion constituency for calling the leadership of the party to ban him from contesting the 2024 parliamentary primaries of the constituency.
It would be recalled that, some NDC youth of the Mion constituency on Tuesday November 1, 2022, issued a press statement and call on the leadership of the party to ban the former MP of the area Hon Mohammed Abdul Aziz and the 2020 aspiring candidate of the seat Dr. Mu-Awia Zakaria from contesting the 2024 parliamentary primaries in the area.
According to the youth this will ensure unity and cohesion within the party in the constituency.
They accused the former MP of causing disunity among the members of the party in the area.
“Hon. Aziz is never a unifier. He lacks the capacity to carry everybody together which is a foundation upon which we can win the seat. He survives on divide and rule tactics. Knocking one village or community against the other. He uses Konkonbas against Dagombas just to score cheap political points”.
“Aziz is the most arrogant person on planet earth. He has an inflated ego. He alone knows everything. No one knows anything. He prosecuted the campaign on his self- centered ideas. He would not allow other groups to help him. He went to many communities to campaign with only two people just to take credit for himself after he wins”, they added.
But reacting to the statement on Diamond FM Constituency Watch a Political Talk Show on Tuesday November 1, 2022, the former NDC lawmaker, bastardized the youth, pointing accusing fingers at the former constituency chairman of NDC Alhaji Abdulai Zakaria.
According to Honorable Aziz, the former constituency chairman of NDC is responsible for the press statement, having failed to win the just ended NDC constituency elections.
“Our former constituency chairman of our party is behind the press statement. He is the cause of everything in the constituency. He is the reason NDC lost the seat. You fight me when I was the MP. Now, I am no more the MP. Why do you still fight me? I think it is time for people in the Mion constituency to know him better, because his attitude is not helping the party”, he said.
“In the first place, did I inform them that I am contesting? I haven’t made my mind whether I will contest or not. Why then this attitude?”, he quizzed.
He denied all the accusation and thus urge the general public to disregard the statement.
