N/R: Tamale Central MP Ibrahim Mohammed Murtala support 10 students to study Medicine at the University.

The Member of Parliament for Tamale Central constituency, Ibrahim Mohammed Murtala, has offered a sponsorship package to 10 new medical students within his constituency.

The students eight (8) boys and two (2) girls gained admission at the University for Development Studies (UDS) to pursue Medicine program, received Gh¢2,600 each from the MP for their fees at a short ceremony on Saturday 26 February, 2022.

The extension of support to these students forms part of the activities the former Deputy Trade Minister undertook to augment the existing health practitioners within his constituency.

Addressing the beneficiaries at a short ceremony, the Tamale Central legislature, indicated that he will continue to extend his support to the students till they graduated from the school.

“Like I indicated this money is not from my common fund rather its my salary accumulation which I am using to support these students”, he said.

“I will continue paying the fees as long as I still remain the MP for Tamale central, and you know next year the number will increase because other students will gain admission to do Medicine. I will continue to support because this is SADAKATUL JAARIYA”, he pledges.

He has however admonished the beneficiary students to stay focused throughout their stay in the school.

He also reminded the students to return to the constituency and render their services to the people of Tamale Central after their completion.

Speaking to Diamondfmonline.com after the ceremony, Mutala Mohammed said his outfit as part of measures to improve the educational standard within the Tamale Central constituency, had decided to continue the free extra class with the SHS one students most especially those who are still waiting for their results.

“We want to continue with the free extra classes for the SHS Ones. We want to see how best we can tutelage those students till they finish the school, and hopefully, we may have many doctors coming out from them”, he added.

Meanwhile, the beneficiary students could not hold back their tears after receiving the support from the MP however, they thanked the MP for coming to their aid.

“We thank the MP for the gesture, “and it is our hope and prayers that as we have gotten the sponsorship, we will make sure when we go to the school, we will study hard to uplift the name of the constituency and Ghana as a while”, they pledged.
