Lamashegu: Stop Interfering in the recruitment process of police officers in the country- Lamashenaa to Politicians

The Chief of Lamashegu traditional area, Naa Ziblim Abdulai has call on politicians and other stakeholders to desist from interfering on the recruitment of police officers in the country.

According to him, the interfering on the recruitment of policer officers, had denied the police administration from recruiting qualified people in to the police service.

Naa Ziblim Abdulai made the call when the Mayor of Tamale, Sule Salifu led the Northern Regional Security Council to his palace on Monday 14 February 2022 following the shooting incident at his palace on Sunday 13 February 2022. resulting in youth riot and subsequent killing of one person, leaving seven (7) people seriously injured.

‘We are witnessing this behavior from the police because they have recruited unqualified people into the service”, he fumed.

The chief while feeling disrespected by the action of the Police, also stated “what is happening in Tamale we the chiefs and our people are not happy. This is not the first time, it has happened before and nothing has been done about it, hence its repetition.

“DCE and Coordinating Director, I beg of you. Let this message get to the authorities. They should stop interfering on the recruitment of personnel of all security services. They should make sure persons recruited into the security services are well trained and not stop imposing their relatives who are not qualified for the work to them. Let the leader of the security service do their own recruitment”, he said.

“Let this be the first and the last time. We will not condone this behavior from the police any more”, he warned.

One person lost his live, while seven (7) people sustained gunshot wounds during a recent clash between police and some youth of Lamashegu , on Sunday 13 February 2022.
