Lamashegu: Family of JHS Student shot dead at Lamashegu demands justice

The family of Abdul Hakim, a Junior High School graduate who was allegedly killed by some policemen at Lamashegu of the Tamale Metropolis has demanded justice.

The family said that the Northern Regional Police Command should ensure that the killers of the deceased were brought to book.

The family made the demand in an interaction with Diamondfmonline.com on Monday 14 February, 2022.

The deceased and seven (7) others got injured during the clash between the angry youth of Lamashegu and the police on Sunday 13th February, 2022.

It is reported that Abdul Hakeem was allegedly hit by a stray bullet allegedly fired by the police.

Speaking exclusively to Diamondfmonline.com, the uncle of the deceased, Alhassan Imoro, who spoke on behalf of the family said “the perpetrators of the act must not be allowed to go free. “Our son wasn’t part of the irate youth. He was only playing football with his friends at the nearby football park when the police acted unprofessional by shooting a live bullet on their direction. We want the police to punish their officer who shot and killed our son. They have to make sure they pay for their actions”, he said.

Meanwhile, the Northern Regional Police Command has launched Investigations into the incident.

Six police officers has since been interdicted by the Command for further investigations.
