Kumbungu: MP hands over renovated 3-Unit Classroom Block to Yuni Community

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumbungu Constituency, Dr Adam Hamza has handed over a fully renovated three-unit classroom block and an office complex to the staff and pupils of Yuni Primary School of the Kumbungu District. 

The renovation of the Yuni School block valued at GH¢160,000 form part of the MP’s efforts to promote quality education in the area.

School children at Yuni can now learn in a well-furnished classroom for effective teaching and learning after MP of the area handed over the well-furnished facility with offices to the staff and pupils of the school.

Yuni Primary School block, was ripped off by a rainstorm over 4 years ago and left the school without an option than to close down, however the MP on November last year responded to the Yuni community members plead and re-roof and renovated the school block of the area  

The three(3) -unit classroom block is the only school within Yuni and its surrounding communities and serve over hundred pupils in the community.

Addressing the community members at a short ceremony to commission the school, Dr Hamza explained that the completion of the school is in fulfillment of a pledge he made after winning the 2020 general elections.

“I took it upon myself to make it as one of my priority projects that will bring education to the door step of the people of Yuni, and for that matter I gave it out to the contractor for renovation”, he added. 

He said the provision of the educational infrastructure is part of his determination to uplift the standard of educational sector in the Kumbungu District.

The Kumbungu legislature also mentioned that education is key to every development; hence he has decided to make education a priority as an MP for the betterment of every child in the area.

He has therefore appealed to both teachers, community members and the Parents Teachers Association (PTA), to pay good attention to the facility and ensure it is put to good use, “because that is crucial to give the facility a long live”, he said.

Speaking to Diamondfmonline.com after the handing over, the NDC lawmaker indicated that the excursion and completion of Yuni Primary School project was one of the activities he undertakes in the area of education within the Kumbungu District, “because I have prioritized education as part of my development projects; this is just one of them”, he indicated.

He said his outfit within the one year as MP for Kumbungu has initiate and completed series of projects in the area of education. The projects include construction and completion of 4-unit classroom block for pupils of Gumo, construction of Six-unit classroom block at Ngogu, provision of 400 dual desks for 11 schools within the district, provision of financial support to the needy but brilliant students among others.

“My work in one year in the area of education, I must say that it has been great”, he praises.

Speaking on behalf of the District Director, Madam Naa Elizabeth, the District Planning Officer at the District Educational Directorate, commended the MP for giving education in the district the needed push to improve quality education delivery.

Madam Elizabeth while commending the MP, also called on parents within the community to enroll their wards into the school.

Meanwhile, chiefs and elders of the community who could not hide their happiness however, commended the MP for ensuring the renovation and completion of the only school block in the community.

They indicated that such a commitment and the zeal to serve the people of the area are positively impacting the lives of people in the area.

 “Our children can now learn in a well-furnished classroom”, they said.

“We are happy that we are backed to school. We thank the MP for renovating our school”, some of the pupils told Diamondfmonline.com.
