Jantong communities maintain-they will want to be part of the propose Savannah Region

The Chiefs and people of Jantong electoral area in the East Gonja district have expressed their readiness for the proposed creation of the Savannah region.

Some concerned youth of the area have been kicking against its creation, citing potential conflict situations as the area, for some time now have been witnessing chieftaincy clashes.

But giving their full blessing to the proposed Savanah region, Chief of Yii, one of the communities, NAA Sulemana Issah said, Janton and its immediate surrounding areas, formed a core of the under deprived areas in the district, hence being part of the yet to be created Savannah region, would stimulate development of the area.

A cross section of the inhabitants listed poor road network declining education and health quality which could be better addressed if they had a region.

The NPP Government in fulfillment of its manifesto pledge of creating more regions from the existing 10, established a commission of enquiry to facilitate the collation of concerns and subsequent advice government on the way forward.

Two more regions are expected to be carved out the northern region, namely the Savannah and the North east region.
Referendums are to be conducted in the proposed areas, before the region can come into existence.
