Deputy Director of Ghana Free Zones Board pick forms to contest Tolon Primaries

The Deputy Director of Ghana Free Zones Board, Alhaji Habib Iddrisu, has for the first time publicly announced his decision to contest the parliamentary primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tolon Constituency.

It will be recalled Diamondfmonline.com had earlier reported that the 2016 NPP parliamentary candidate for Sagnarigu constituency was nursing plans to join the race to Ghana’s Parliament on the ticket of the governing NPP for the Tolon Central constituency.

Alhaji Habib in a telephone conversation with Diamondfmonline.com, announced he had picked forms to contest in the Primaries.

This announcement brings to an end rumours of his interest in getting elected as a Member of Parliament.

This will be the first time Alhaji Habib is contesting to lead the party in the Tolon constituency.

In 2016, he represented the NPP at the Sagnarigu constituency but lost to the current MP Alhaji A.B.A FUSEINI.

The Deputy Director of Ghana Free Zones Board will face-off with the incumbent MP Hon Wahab Suhuyini Wumbei who was elected to parliament in 2012 and 2016.

Since 1992, the Tolon constituency seat has been swinging between the two main political parties.

The NPP announced opening of nominations and filing for qualified members of the party through its general secretary.

The deadline for the submission of forms and filing of nominations is on February 20, 2020. Diamondfmonline.com checks from the constituency office of Tolon, revealed two persons have picked the forms to contest the upcoming parliamentary elections in Tolon. They are Alhaji Habib Idrisu, and Alhaji Jagbo Baako, Chairman for DAMAZ.
