Chiefs of Lamashegu and Nyohini appreciates government for introducing ‘No Guarantor Student Loan Policy’

The chiefs and people of Lamashegu and Nyohini, a suburb of the Tamale Metropolis in the Northern Region, have commended the government for implementing the ‘No Guarantor Student Loan Policy’ in the country.

According to them, the introduction of the No Guarantor policy has come at the right time since parents had challenges accessing Student Loans due to difficulties in finding guarantors.

“We thanked the government for coming up with this policy. It has relieved us of the burden of funding our children’s education. Now, as parents we don’t have to go through the stress of looking for money to pay our wards’ school fees”, they said.

The chiefs and the community members made these remarks after management of the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) led by its Chief Executive Officer Nana Kwaku Agyei Yeboah, held a separate durbar at Lamashegu and Nyohini to educate them on how to access the fund.

Management of the fund before interacting with the chiefs and people within the Tamale Metropolis, also sensitize students at the various senior high schools within the metropolis about the existence of the fund and how to access it without any difficulties.

In his short remarks, the chief executive officer of the Student Loan Trust Fund, Nana Kwaku Agyei Yeboah, said the introduction of the ‘No Guarantor policy’ is an indication of government’s commitment of supporting every child in the country to attain a higher education.

He said, education is paramount to the NPP government hence the No Guarantor scheme policy. “Students don’t even apply to tertiary institutions because they have no hope. So, we are giving hope to the hopeless, and we are assuring them that, education is paramount to the NPP government and we want every student to benefit. All you need to do is to study hard if you pass and have your Ghana card, and you can apply”, he narrated.

The Mayor of Tamale Sule Salifu in his address lauded the government for introducing the policy.

Honorable Sule Salifu while highlighting the importance of the policy thus called on parents to put more efforts towards their ward’s education. He also encourage students in the Tamale Metropolis to take their education seriously.
