“Apologize to the Minority Leader”- NDC Youth Group to Former NDC MP

The Concern National Democratic Congress (NDC) youth group of Kumbungu constituency is asking the former Member of Parliament (MP) of the area Honorable Ras Mubarak to as a matter of urgency render an unqualified apology to the Minority leader Honorable Haruna Iddrisu, as well as the people of Kumbungu Constituency over a statement he made about the Minority leader.

Ras Mubarak on his Facebook page on Saturday October 1, 2022 accused the Tamale South lawmaker Haruna Iddrisu of interfering in the upcoming constituency elections within the Kumbungu constituency.

“Those who think they can sit in their constituencies and interfere in internal elections in other people’s areas should think again. Party elders have watched aloof for Haruna Iddrisu to create problems in the region. You go about asking who’s Ras Mubarak’s candidate for constituency elections. It’s not smartness, it’s cowardice. Others may take it lying down. I won’t. I take no prisoners. The party belongs to all of us. You would stay in your constituency and mind your business there. You want to control NDC by determining who gets what and where? Not in Kumbungu. Back off Kumbungu and mind your business, Mr. Minority Leader,” he alleges.

Meanwhile, reacting to his statement on Thursday October 6, 2022, the NDC concern youth group of Kumbungu described his assertion as malicious, inaccurate, and desperately cooked primarily to gain attention from unsuspecting persons.

“He has the penchant of attacking high- profile personalities, including the Honorable Minority Leader, especially since his miserable lost in the Parliamentary primaries in August 2019, and in the Northern Regional Counsel of State election at which he scored zero votes. The least opportunity he gets, he struggles to drag Hon. Haruna Iddrisu’s name into the mud to get cheap public attention”, they stated.

The group in a press statement copy to diamondfmonline.com however, urge the general public to disregard his statement.

PRESS RELEASE

NDC CONCERNED YOUTH OF KUMBUNGU CONSTITUENCY REACTS TO UNWARRANTED ATTACKS OF RAS MUBARAK ON HON. HARUNA IDDRISU

We have learnt of the unwarranted and ill-informed attacks of Ras Mubarak, former MP for Kumbungu Consituency on the venerable Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, Minority Leader of Ghana’s 8th Parliament, which occurred on Saturday 1st October, 2022, on his Facebook wall.

We the NDC Concerned Youth of Kumbungu see this attack as a deliberate attempt to sabotage the good people of Kumbungu, and to truncate the good courtesies and magnanimity the Hon. Haruna Iddrisu extends to the constituency.

We are by this release, stating categorically that the claims of Ras Mubarak that Hon. Haruna Iddrisu is mingling in the constituency elections are malicious, inaccurate, and desperately cooked primarily to gain attention from unsuspecting persons. He has the penchant of attacking high- profile personalities, including the Hon. Minority Leader, especially since his miserable lost in the Parliamentary primaries in August 2019, and in the Northern Regional Counsel of State election at which he scored zero votes. The least opportunity he gets, he struggles to drag Hon. Haruna Iddrisu’s name into the mud to get cheap public attention.

We want to inform the public to disregard his blatant allegation, and to state emphatically that Hon Haruna Iddrisu does not interfere in the affairs of NDC Kumbungu constituency Executive elections. However, we the concerned youth of NDC will choose Hon. Haruna Iddrisu over him a dozen times, now and forever because Hon. Haruna Iddrisu has been of enormous support to the constituency even before Ras Mubarak became MP. It must be stated clearly that the support of Hon. Haruna Iddrisu in the run-up to the 2020 elections was significant and contributed greatly in the NDC’s victory and we remain forever grateful.

Ras Mubarak portrayed himself as a saint and one who was highly ‘connected’ and when he was given the opportunity to become MP of the constituency, his performance was abysmal and on record, the worse ever in the history of Kumbungu constituency.
We are making it clear to him that Kumbungu constituency has learnt our lessons the bitter way and he is gone for good. We have realized that he does not have the constituency at heart from his days as MP till even now, and therefore doing all things possible to gag responsible people who might show interest to help develop the constituency.
Ras Mubarak has always paraded himself as a radical person but unfortunately, he has not been able to radically propel the development of Kumbungu constituency when he was handed the mandate as MP. The best on his score sheet was to renovate two structures and constructed only two boreholes in the whole constituency over his entire 4- year tenure.

What even made matters worse was that he had no regards for party structures, no respect for stakeholders and opinion leaders, zero tolerance for criticisms and rather wanted to be worshipped as a demigod. We showed him the exit and he has since not found his bearing.

Ras Mubarak’s wishes and prayers was to see NDC lose in the 2020 parliamentary election, unfortunately he got disappointed. He refused to join in the campaign and surfaced on only two occasions. His first appearance into the constituency to campaign for the party after his defeat at the primaries was when the venerable minority leader and other bigwigs stormed the constituency on 4th November, 2020.

The second instance was when H.E John Dramani Mahama visited Kumbungu Palace. We will therefore not sit aloof and watch him denigrate the name of the entire constituency for his parochial interest. Kumbungu constituency is far bigger than any selfish individual.

We are by this release, urging him to render an unqualified apology to the Hon. Haruna Iddrisu as an elder brother, senior and leader, as well as to the good people of Kumbungu Constituency.

Thank you.

Signed…
