Tamale – Louisville Sister Cities Committee and Tamale Islamic Senior High School (TISSEC) in collaboration with the office of Zosimli Naa, Ife Bell on Friday October 7, 2022 held a blood donation and clean up exercise at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH).
The exercise was part of activities towards the coronation of the Zosimli Naa Ife Bell II, the exercise was held at the premises of the TTH, where members of the Louisville sister cities and members of the public voluntarily donated blood and cleaned up the hospital.
In her remarks, the Zosimli Naa Ife Bell II noted that the purpose of the blood donation and the cleanup exercise was aimed at saving lives and enhancing sanitation within the hospital.
“We are here to save where lives begin, in every society, lives have to start somewhere, and always start with birth, and so women and their babies and children are critical for our society to flourish, and so saving them to ensure that lives start in the best possible way with all the right circumstances, hence the gesture.”
She indicated that, it is important for every developed society and developing society to ensure that women and children flourished.
Speaking on behalf of the management of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) after the exercise, the Deputy Director of administration, Iddrisu A. Tanko, commended Zosimli Naa Ife Bell and Louisville Sister Cities Committee for coming out with such an initiative to save lives.
He said, the exercise while helping to save lives, the blood donation could also conribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) of reducing child and maternal mortality in the region by 2030 as put out by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
