Allegations against Haruna Iddrisu are false and malicious, NDC Gbewaa Youth.

The Gbewaa youth group, a pro NDC vigilante group in the Tamale Metropolis, has described the recent allegations against the Minority leader of Parliament Haruna Iddrisu, as false, malicious and a calculated attempt to sow a seed of discord between the minority leader and the leadership of the NDC.

According to the group, the minority leader who is MP for Tamale South Constituency, never instigated verbal or physical attacks on any perceived or real detractor whatsoever for the purposes of safeguarding his political ambition of becoming President of Ghana.

The group in a press statement copied to diamondfmonline indicated that, the January 17, 2013 incident where NDC party billboards were vandalized in Tamale was neither organized by the minority leader nor by any other youth leadership of the NDC in Tamale.

Rather the group said, it was a spontaneous reaction from some angry youth of the party who thought that the minority leader was being left out in the appointments of ministers by the then President John Mahama.

A group calling itself the Coalition of Youth Groups of NDC in the Northern Region, on Monday 6, Sep, 2021, held a press conference and fingered the Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu in a series of vandalism on NDC billboards and attacks on Regional Executives in 2018.

However, in a rebuttal, the Gbewaa Youth group has disputed all the claims, saying all the allegations are only calculated to tarnish the hard-won reputation of the minority leader and sow a seed of discord between him and former president Mahama.

The group has therefore appealed to the Minority leader Haruna Iddrisu, to continue his leadership to ensure the party is united in the region ahead of the 2024 elections.

Press Statement by the Gbewah Youth Group in Tamale in response to allegations of disloyalty against the minority leader by the Coalition of NDC Youth Groups.

Ladies and gentlemen of the media we called you here today to respond to allegations of perfidy and ‘Warlordism’ levelled against the honorable minority leader, Haruna Iddirisu by the so-called Coalition of Youth Groups of the NDC.

First of all, we wish to state that all the allegations are false, malicious and a calculated attempt to sow a seed of discord between the minority leader and the leadership of the great NDC.

We specifically find as distasteful and a palpable lie, allegations that lawyer Haruna Iddirisu has been visiting mayhem on perceived detractors in the party through his assigns. While we wonder why the Coalition of Youth Groups failed to mention at least one of the assigns to lend credibility to its allegations, we wish to state the following;

1.          That the minority leader has never instigated verbal and or physical attacks on any perceived or real detractor whatsoever for the purposes of safeguarding his political ambition of becoming President of Ghana.

2.         That the January 17, 2013 incident where NDC party billboards were vandalised in Tamale was neither organized by assigns of the minority leader nor by any other notable youth leadership of the NDC in Tamale. Indeed, it was a spontaneous reaction from some angry youth of the party who thought that the minority leader was being left out in the appointments of ministers by the then President John Mahama. It is instructive to note that it took the minority leader himself to call the youth to order when his attention was drawn to it by some party elders.

3.         For any youth group to claim responsibility for the vandalization of party properly and want to credit the action to the honorable minority leader, only shows desperation on its part to want to destroy a stalwart whose only crime is his magnanimity to humanity.

4.         Allegations that he masterminded it are only calculated to tarnish the hard-won reputation of the minority leader and sow a seed of discord between him and former president Mahama. We also do know that some party people who are trying hard to win the confidence and friendship of former President Mahama are behind this latest development which is only adding up to a litany of malicious moves by those detractors of the minority leader to demonise him.

5.         We wish to also state on record that notwithstanding attempts to demonise him, we plead with the minority leader to continue to show leadership to ensure that the party is united in the region ahead of the 2024 elections.

6.         Haruna Iddisrisu loves former president Mahama and will continue to complement his efforts towards ensuring victory for the NDC in 2024.

7.         Haruna Iddirisu remains the topmost financier of the NDC in the region and it is our hope that he would continue to drive the efforts of the party towards re-capturing power in 2024.

Thank you for coming.

Signed
