Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) warns the general public against any act that would undermine the peace during the funeral of late chief of Kpatinga

The Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has warned all persons who will be taking part in the performance of the final funeral rites of the late Naa Bapra Kpatinga – Lana Ziblim Sheini, against carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapon to the funeral grounds.

REGSEC in a press statement signed by the acting Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed, also cautioned persons with intentions of fermenting trouble in the area during the funeral to stay off.

Part of the statement issued the media in Tamale read: “the carrying of rifles, dangerous, offensive weapons and any live ammunition is strictly prohibited by any persons or group of persons within Kpatinga or outside onto the area, this will be vigorously enforced by the security,” it stated.

“Firing of any musketry at the funeral should be done only on the precincts of the palace and should be done only with local or traditionally manufactured guns,” it added. 

The statement also added that the security will deal decisively with any persons or group of persons who intended to cause mayhem during the performance of the funeral. It however advised all those who will participate in the funeral performance to strictly adhere to the directives. 

The family of late chief of Kpatinga traditional area Naa Ziblim Sheini, earlier announced the performance of the final funeral rites which is scheduled to take place from 15th to 22nd January 2021.
