“Let’s take disinfestation of public facilities and home spaces more seriously!” says Zoomlion official

Waste management company, Zoomlion has undertaken a dis-infestation of the Tamale airport and parts of the military facilities located on same grounds.

The dis-infestation which took place on Tuesday evening lasted several hours with personnel of zoomlion who were dressed in appropriate gear; spraying their chemicals on all surfaces of at the airport to get rid of mosquitoes, cockroaches and other rodents such as mice and other nuisance and diseases causing organisms that are in the airport.”

It happened through collaboration between the leading waste management company and the Ghana Airports company.

A Vector Control Officer at the Northern Operations office of Zoomlion, Abdul-Aziz Yelsuma who addressed the media on the exercise explained that: “Usually dis-infestation is an exercise that most facilities do not pay attention to, but it is very important because as we live with mice in your environment, as you get In contact with their saliva, their urine or feacal matter there are so many diseases you can get by living with them but most facilities don’t pay much attention to it.”

He added; “Especially at this crucial moment, we are dealing with Covid-19, a virus that has not been fully understood by anybody in the world, the information about Covid-19 is still sketchy and others are saying its possible it can be transmitted through other living organisms like mice and rats and others to human.”
