The King of Dagbon Ndan Yaa Naa Abubakari II, has urged the newly appointed Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam Anta to support President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo to complete the Yendi water project.
“Your first assignment, here in the Northern Region, will be to support His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo to complete the Yendi water project, a project that is very dear to my heart”.
According to the King, the President always speak about the water crisis in Yendi and other parts of the Northern Region with a troubled mind and “I believe he will be deeply appreciative of your efforts to solve it”.
The King made the call at the Gbewaa Palace on Sunday February 18, 2024, when the Minister who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Karaga Constituency, called on him to introduce himself to him as the new Finance Minister and to seek the King’s blessing.
In his welcoming address, the Lion King indicated that, “Your appointment is a source of pride and inspiration for the people of Dagbon, and I have confidence that you will continue to serve with honor, integrity, and diligence to the welfare and progress of our beloved nation”.
The overlord of Dagbon while expressing his confidence in the economist, also stated that, “I also trust that you will not disappoint His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo and will support him in serving the nation as best as you can”.
He encouraged the Minister to be guided by the principles of fairness and equal opportunities to those he might be working with. “As a leader I trust that you will be guided by the principles of fairness and equal opportunity for all who work under you or seek to benefit from your authority”.
“I offer you my blessings and complete support as you step into this new office to serve our nation”, he assures.
On his part, the newly Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Anta said the delay of the Yendi water project was as a result of the International Monetary Fund IMF conditions but plans are far advance to ensure the start of the project
“Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has told me that my first assignment as a Minister of Finance will be to ensure the kick start of the Yendi project”, he revealed.
