Wurishe Naa summons parents of alleged ‘attackers’ of NEDCo/VRA staff to assist in investigations

The Chief of Wurishe Traditional Area, Naa Adam Lansah, has assured management of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) and Volta River Authority (VRA) of efforts being made to produce community members who assaulted staff of NEDCo/VRA at Koblemahagu.

According to the chief, that his outfit had since summoned the parents of the culprits to assist local investigations for the young men.

The chief made these known during his interaction with the media at the Gulkpegu Naa palace on Tuesday 15th March, 2022. Naa Adam Lansah while assuring the management of NEDCo/VRA his readiness to produce the culprits, also expressed his unhappiness about the current happenings within his jurisdiction, and also condemn the actions by the youth.

He indicated that, since the confrontation between the youth and some staff of the power company, it has caused him a lot of discomfort hence, the resolve to work together with the local authority within the community and its environs to apprehend the culprits.

The chief also calls on the management of NEDCo/VRA to reconsider their decision and reconnect Koblemahagu community back to the national grid while the local authority continues to search for the culprits.

Koblemahagu has been plunged into darkness for several days following a violent attack on some staff of NEDCo by some youth of the area. One of the field officers sustained severe machete wounds during the attack.

Businesses within Koblemahagu community, especially those operating cold stores and other artisan workers are the hardest hit.

Meanwhile, the power distribution company had on Wednesday 9th March, 2022 announced the withdrawal of their field services until further notice following the violent attack on their colleagues by some youth of Koblemahagu.
