Yaan Naa Reaffirms, “Seize the talking drums from Tamale Dakpemah, and hand it over to the Gbewaa Palace”

Overlord of Dagbang His Majesty Ndan Yaa-Naa Abukari II, has reaffirmed the earlier statement made by the traditional rulers of Gulkpegu, Sagnarigu, Banvum, Lamashegu, Nantong and Zangbaling.

The overlord had therefore directed the Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) and the Tamale Metropolitan Security Council (METSEC) to as a matter of urgency seize the talking drums from the Tamale Dakpema palace and hand it over to the Gbewaa Palace.

Ndan Yaa-Naa give these pronouncements during a 4 hours closed door meeting with the Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) and the Tamale Metropolitan Security Council (METSEC) on Thursday 10th March, 2022 at his private residence in Yendi.

It will be recalled that Diamondfmonline.com on February 26, 2022 reported that, the traditional rulers of Gulkpegu, Sagnarigu, Banvum, Lamashegu, Nantong, Zangbalin, among others, gave the METSEC and REGSEC a three working day ultimatum to seize the talking drums from the Tamale Dakpema palace and hand it over to the overlord of Dagbon.

The chiefs at a press briefing warned that they will advise themselves should REGSEC and METSEC failed to implement their demand.

Diamondfmonline.com investigations indicated that, that directive has not been implemented by the two bodies.

Also, information reaching Diamondfmonline.com also indicated that, the King during the engagement expressed his disappointment about REGSEC and METSEC inability to implement his earlier communiqué which clarify the status of the two traditional authorities within the greater Tamale Metropolis.

The overlord of Dagbon in the letter dated 20th February, 2022 with reference DTC/TD/7/22/02, clarified that, Tamale Dakpemah Bawa Fuseini is not a recognized chief within the traditional system of Dagbang but a Fetish Priest otherwise known as “Tindana” hence should be addressed as such.

“The Dakpemah should not use two talking drums at his palace”, the overlord insisted.

There has been seeming confusion between the Paramount Chiefs and the Tamale Dakpema over the latter holding himself publicly as the ‘Paramount Chief of Tamale’.

The situation had led to unknown gunmen attacking the Tamale Dakpema palace on Monday 7th March, 2022.

The unknown assailants shot and wounded Tamale Dakpema Bawa Fuseini, and four others.
