We are ready for District Level Elections, N/R Police Command.

Police in the Northern region are on high alert to respond to security threats across the region going into the District level election on Tuesday December 17.

The Northern regional Police PRO DSP. Yussif Mohammed Tanko in an interview with Diamond news said a special team is on standby to respond to emergencies whilst various patrol teams are also on the ground to curtail any breach of the peace.

According to the regional Police command Police personal will also be deployed to all polling stations before the start of the elections at 7:00 am on Tuesday.

The regional Police Public Relations Officer revealed that some hotspots have been identified ahead of the elections and special arrangements have been made to ensure incidence free elections within those electoral areas.

DSP Yussif Tanko revealed that all sensitive electoral materials are currently in the custody of police and will be deployed to the various centers before the start of the elections.

The Northern regional Police PRO DSP Yussif Tanko also indicated that all officers have been given the necessary briefing concerning how to handle themselves at the various polling stations.

He however advised the public to obey all electoral rules and regulations. He said electorates should leave the polling station after casting their vote.

DSP Yussif Tanko also encouraged the public to reach out to the Police service on 191 or 18555 or 0299200331 and must not take the law into their own hands.
