Tamale City have finally booked their place in next season’s Ghana Premier League after emerging winners of the special play off to find a replacement for demoted Ashantigold in the elite division of Ghana football.
After unsuccessfully making it to the premier for umpteen times, the Golden Eagles have now made it as winners of the play off. A 1-1 draw with Ebusua Dwarfs on Monday means Tamale City will join Real Tamale United (RTU) in next season’s league.
Tamale City beat Liberty Professionals 1-0 on Saturday to put themselves in pole position for qualification.

Coach Hamza Mohammed’s side will compete in next season’s league as they have struggled on numerous occasions the last of which was a painful 2-1 loss to Nsuatreman FC in the last play offs after both teams had ended the Division One League Zone One with 71 points apiece and the same head-to-head.
The team returned home to a rousing welcome on Tuesday morning. Supporters of the team came out in their numbers to meet the team at the University for Development Studies (UDS) campus.
Amidst the jubilant mood of all, the team from the Lamashegu roundabout the team went through to the main township towards Sakasaka and then to the Agric Traffic Lights. The team then continued to the Choggu Roundabout about then to the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium and finally landed at the team’s Club House in Lamashegu.
