Teachers and pupils of the Lamashegu cluster of schools are fuming over insanitary practices on the school compound.
According to the Agitating staff, the absence of a fence wall to ward of intruders, has created a conducive atmosphere for community members at Lamashegu North and Lamakara, to indiscriminately litter the school compound.
Speaking to Diamond news in an interview, head teacher for Lamashegu Block A basic school, Martha Essien, expressed lamentations over the situation.
She stated that persistent attempts by opinion leaders in the area to intervene to halting the practice had fallen on death ears.
Security man for the Lamashegu cluster of schools, Alhassan Ziblim for his part, stated that, efforts to get the community members to stop had persistently resulted in confrontations, as threats are being issued to him by the residents.
Scores of residents staying around the school have developed the habit of dumping refuse on that particular side of the compound. The stench emanating from the refuse is unbearable to both the teaching staff and pupils.
