The Public Relations Officer (P.R.O) of the Gbewaa palace, has denied reports stating that the Overlord of Dagbang Ndan Yaa Naa Abukari II hit hard at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag-bearer hopeful Honorable Kennedy Ohene Agyapong over his recent comments about “Northerners” in the country.
According to him, the King never mentioned or make any statement attributed to him by the report.
He described the reports as “unfortunate” stating, “it is unfortunate when I saw the story yesternight. I was very worried. If you put words on the mouth of the King, it is quite unfortunate. What worries me so much is that some media houses took that story and put it on their pages without making enquiries from the palace, and some of their reps were at the palace to cover his visit. And so, we are totally scandalized about the new twist”.
It is alleged that, the Overlord of Dagbang Yaa-Naa Abukari Mahama II on Thursday October 19, 2023, cautioned the NPP flagbearer hopeful Honorable Kennedy Agyapong, to desist from utterances that incite hatred against “Northerners”. According to the report, the King made these remarks when Kennedy Ayapong paid a courtesy call at the Gbewaa palace to inform him (the King) of his presence in the region.
However, responding to the reports on Diamond Power Drive on Friday October 20, 2023, Mr. Yakubu Musah indicated that, “the King is not happy about the actions of some of the media guys who were at the palace to cover the event”.
“He gifted the King a brand-new pick up vehicle, and if someone honor you with a brand-new vehicle and you have nothing to say, will you blast him in addition to what he did?”, he quizzed.
“In fact, the King gave him fifty tubers of yam and a bull, and even honored him with a smock to show his appreciation because it is not everybody that can make a promise and delivers it”, he added.
