Sports Minister Ussif Mustapha connects four communities onto the national grid under REP

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Yagaba-Kubori and Minister of Youth and Sports Honorable Mustapha Ussif, as part of his Christmas Good Will Tour’ within his constituency, has connected four (4) communities onto the national grid under the rural electrification project (REP) to boost social and economic activities of the people. The connection of the communities to the national grid formed part of the promise he made to the people during the 2020 general elections. These communities have never had electricity. They include Zanloo, Arba, Zukpeni and Namoo. The communities will now have full access to power for their day-to-day activities.Residents of the communities were thrown into a state of ecstasy when a street light was turned on at their various communities to indicate the connection of the communities to the national grid.

Addressing the chiefs and people at separate durbars, the MP indicated the connection of the communities to the national grid would pave way for many developmental projects to be established as well as improve academic performance in the communities.

He said, the residents of the beneficiary communities previously had to travel several kilometers to charge their mobile phones or mill their flour in other communities. But, with the advent of electricity, not only will they be able to solve their basic problems, but they will also be able to boost their economic activities in the area.

He thus admonished the community members most especially the youth to take advantage of the opportunity of being connected to the national grid to create jobs for themselves in order to improve on their livelihoods.

He re-echoed his commitment to developing every part of the constituency.

Meanwhile the MP, before inaugurating the electrification project, also joined the Christian community within his constituency to celebrate this year’s Christmas festivities. Mr. Mustapha in an interaction with the Christian Followship at separate churches however, called on them to emulate the life of Jesus Christ.

“Jesus was a peace-loving man; Jesus could give out his last penny to comfort a fellow than to keep it and see a fellow struggle in the lack”.

“If we love one another, peace, good tidings and the mercies of God will continue to befall on us”, he added. He also presented an undisclosed amount of money to the Christian community to support their feast and assist some of the churches as well to procure more chairs for fellows especially in the most lacking churches.

The sports minister after celebrating this year Christmas with the Christian community, later cut sod for the construction of six-unit classroom block at 3 different communities.

The communities include Yizeisi, Dabozesi and Tantala.
