N/R: Yaa Naa charged DAYA to embark on activities that will bring development to Dagbon

The Overlord of Dagbon Ndan Yaa-Naa Abukari II, has charged the leadership of Dagbon Youth Association (DAYA) to take activities that will stimulate progress and development of the Dagbon kingdom.
According to the King, the kingdom had suffered so much in the hands of division, therefore it is prudent for leadership of DAYA to move beyond party and chieftaincy lines and seek development for Dagbon kingdom “so that together, our kingdom shall restore its dignity”.
“DAYA should work towards enhancing peace and security and the promotion of Dagbon traditional area. You have to remained traditionally and political neutral association of Dagbon. We have felt various problems because of division. This is the time to unite”, he said.
The overlord of Dagbon made these call at the Extraordinary Delegates Conference organized by the Dagbon Youth Association (DAYA) on Saturday 1st Jan, 2022.
The meeting was seeking among other things, to strategize the activities of DAYA and solicit views from various youth groups, and other stakeholders within the Dagbon traditional area towards the revamping of the association, which was silent since 2002.
The participants include, former presidents of DAYA, Lawyer Mumuni, Alhaji Abdulai Chairman, Chief of Zangbalin Naa Jacob Mahama, DAYA executives and various youth of Dagbon among others.
However, the King of Dagbon while commending members of DAYA for their efforts towards revamping the association, also said “I wish to reaffirm the commitment of Gbewaa palace partnership with you”.
On his part the former President of DAYA, Alhaji Lawyer Mumuni, while highlighting the importance of the association, also encourage the leadership to work extra hard to make the (DAYA) a very vibrant association in the country. “They should use all their resources and energy to make the association becomes vibrant, and its position to carry out its objectives into save the people of Dagbon”, he stated.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Dagbon Students Association, and also a member of (DAYA), Alhaji Jagbo Baako, on his part said, (DAYA) has been putting measures in place to forestall any activities that will plug the kingdom into confusion. “We have learnt our bitter lessons, and we will work to ensure that the kingdom will not fall into that pit again”.
