N/R: Transfer Police Officer who described Northerners and Lamashegu Naa as….- Tong Lana to IGP

The Chief of Tong Traditional area, Naa Andani Yakubu, has called on Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare, to as a matter of urgency transfer the police officer who described Northerners as ‘animals’ and Lamashegu Chief Palace as ‘dirty’.

According to the chief, he felt disrespected about the comments of the police officer.

“You said you’ve sent the police officer to court or what. Whether you send him or not, we don’t need him any more in our land. This is our land. He also has a chief in his home town. Can he do that in his home town?”, he fumes.

“Not him alone. The other officers who did the shooting at Lamashegu Naa palace, we don’t need all of them in Dagbon land again”, he charged.

The Chief of Tong made these remarks, when the Northern Regional Minister and the Mayor of Tamale led a delegation to the Lamashegu Naa palace on Wednesday 16 February, 2022.

There has been anger among a section of the youth on various social media platforms over an unprintable words used to describe Northerners and Lamashegu chief’s palace by a police officer identified by his Facebook name as ‘Money K. Koranteng’.

Loud Silence Media’s post that asked, “What is Happening in Lamashegu in
Tamale? #Focus”, one Kalam Frantic said, “Our Chiefs in Tamale must rise up, or we the youth will do ourselves. Police brutality is becoming too much.”

Replying to Kamal Frantic’s comment, the police officer Money K Koranteng also said, “Kamal Frantic God will punish you for telling lies here. Nobody brutalized anyone because I’m
here. You abducted police in your dirty palace and seized his rifle, when re enforcement came you were throwing stones Moa.”

Meanwhile, the Northern Regional Police Command has arrested the two officers for their actions, and they had since appeared before the law court.
