Karaga MP Cuts Sod for the Construction of a technical and vocational training school

The Member of Parliament for Karaga Constituency, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam Anta in collaboration with the Rigworld Foundation, has Cut Sod for the construction of a 4 Unit Workshop block for the proposed Nyong Technical and Vocational School in the Karaga District.

The 4-unit workshop block project is an initiative of the Member of Parliament, and fully funded by the Rigworld Group.

The skills acquisition project is aimed at increasing the employment rate among the youth in the area.

The sod cutting event took place at Nyong in the Karaga District in the Northern Region on Friday October 14, 2022.

In his address, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Rigworld Group, Dr. Kofi Amoah Abban, thanked the chiefs and people of Nyong for making the land available for the project and indicated that the MP Dr. Amin Adam’s quest for the progressive educational development of the constituency is admirable and that had gotten Dr Abban’s attention, hence, Rigworld Foundation has pledged full support for the completion of the 4-unit workshop block.

He thus promised to offer scholarships to the best 10 graduates from the Nyong Technical and Vocational Institute each year for further practical trainings at Rigworld’s Training Centres both in Takoradi and in Accra.

“Rigworld Group is proud to be part of this project which will develop highly trained human resource capacity to accelerate Ghana’s oil and gas industry,” he said.

On his part, the Member of Parliament for Karaga constituency, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam Anta, who doubles as Deputy Minister of Energy indicated that the construction of the Technical and Vocational School at Nyong Electoral Area was in fulfillment of his campaign promise during the 2020 general elections.

He said the move also formed part of his determination to reverse the low standard of education in the constituency and to empower young people to become self-employed to enable them contribute effectively to the socio-economic development in the constituency.

“The Eastern Dagbon in the Northern Region had no technical and vocational school, hence the decision to establish one at Nyong of the Karaga District to enhance skills training among the youth,” he said.

He said education for the people was a priority hence he is making school infrastructure accessible in the district. The MP outlined a substantial number of Projects that have been fruitful as a result of the collaborative efforts between him and development partners, the most recent one being a Senior High School facility he initiated and executed at Pishigu which will soon start operating in the next academic year.

He revealed that his outfit is making efforts towards establishing a Teacher Training Collage within Karaga township. “I am assuring you that, when these two secondary schools start working within the first two years, I will start working towards establishing a teacher training collage in Karaga,” he noted.

Dr Amin Anta at the short ceremony to cut the sod expressed his commitment towards improving the living conditions of the people of his constituency. The MP expressed his commitment to support the development of the constituency and thanked the Dr Abban Foundation for the gesture.
