FDA sensitizes media practitioners in the Northern Region on the Food and Drugs Law

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), has sensitized section of media practitioners in the Northern Region on the Food and Drugs Law.

The engagement was part of activities being undertaken by the FDA to educate the public on unregistered and fake products and abuse of drugs in the country. The media were also taken through the work of FDA, in particularly, the Public Health Act, Act 851 which was passed into law in 2012.

Speaking Diamond News after a day’s sensitization, Head of Cosmetics and Household Chemicals Department at FDA, Emmanuel Nkrumah said the Authority needed the support of the media in regulating food, drugs, herbal medicinal products, and related products in the country.

Mr. Nkrumah noted that majority of clients who are into food and drug industry in the country, put profit ahead of the health of consumers. He thereby urged public to desist from purchasing unproved products in the country.

The Head cosmetics of the FDA, also mentioned that the authority had put in place, the necessary measures to prosecute offenders in the country
