Haruna Fun Club goes to the rescue of BECE candidates

In line with their annual support ritual, a youth group called the “Haruna fun club” has donated 1,400 pieces of mathematical sets, and pens to this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E) candidates within the Tamale south constituency.

This year’s aid to the BECE candidates to equip them towards the exam was through the support of the minority leader Haruna Iddrisu.

At a short ceremony to present the items to the head teachers of the beneficiary schools, the chairman of the group Joemu Rufai, indicated that, the donation formed part of measures the group and the MP had put in place to ease the pressure from parents during this period.

“The current hardship in the country is unbearable, hence the group through the MP has taken it upon ourselves to ease the pressure from parents within this constituency, and you know this should have been done by their parents, but the MP have taken the responsibility to help the parents”, Joemu explained.

Jomu Rufai said, leadership of the group with support from the minority leader Haruna Iddrisu, had also stationed four buses to convey candidates from their various homes to the examination centers throughout the five days period.

Jomu Rufai explained that “we have grouped the constituency into four zones for this exercise starting from Monday to Friday”

On his part the Deputy organizer of the Haruna fun club Alhaji Mashud Abiola, in an interview with diamondfmonline.com, revealed that, “this is our seventh year of supporting BECE candidates of Tamale South Constituency and we will continue to support our younger once as long as BECE will continue to take place in this country.

Alhaji Mashud Abiola however appealed to the candidates to eschew examination malpractices to avoid the cancellation of their papers.

Receiving the items for onward distribution, head teacher of Dalogyili Junior High School Fuseini Bawa, thanked the group and the Minority leader Haruna Iddrisu for the gesture, saying the support will go a long way to boost the confidence of the candidates.

“We are overwhelmed by the support and I think if we continue to get this kind of support the falling standards of education will improve”, he added.

This year’s BECE comes off from Monday, November 15 to Friday, November 19, 2021 at 2,158 designated Centres across the country.

It is expected that 571, 894 candidates will sit for the papers according to the Ghana Education Service.
