Dr. Mohamed Awal supports Ya-na’s palace with foodstuff in preparation for this year’s Damba festival

The Minister for Business Development Dr Ibrahim Mohamed Awal has presented some food stuffs to the overlord of Dagbon Yaa-Naa Abukari Mahama II towards this year’s Damba festival celebrations.

 The food items include 30 bags of rice, 10 bags of maize, a bull and an amount of GHC 10, 000.

The Minister after the presentation, called on the people of Dagbon to rally behind the King to cement the peace that has been restored in the area by the NPP government led by President Nana Akuffo Addo. 

According to him Dagbon has suffered in the long decade of chieftaincy disputes thereby retarding progress; “Dagbon has lagged behind because of chieftaincy dispute.”

He reminded the people in the area that, government of Ghana has done its part by restoring the peace hence they should use this year’s Damba celebration to unite and maintain the current peace to ensure development in the area.

Presidents Nana Akufo Addo has solved Dagbon’s problem. What we need to honor our president is to maintain the peace. We want to urge him to continue bringing Dagbon together because without peace there cannot be development. We want peace, and so lets come together and support our King because he is fighting for Dagbon. We cannot go about fighting again. We want development and this is not Abudu-Andani, it is about development,” he stated.

Dr. Mohamed Awal also advised the youth not of allow themselves to be used as tools by unscrupulous politicians for perpetuating violence and causing insecurity in the area in the name of vigilantism.

The minister also donated similar quantity of food stuffs to the Kari- Naa, Yoo Naa, and Mion Lana.

On his part, the over the overlord of Dagbon commended the minister for the gesture and called on other benevolent sons and daughters in Dagbon to also emulate the minister’s gesture by supporting the palace towards the Damba celebration.
