The Fuo Community Hospital has become a COVID-19 testing center in the Northern Region.
Located within the Fuo Community in Tamale, the hospital is the first private licensed COVID-19 testing center within the Northern Region.
Chief Executive Officer of the facility, Alhaji Iddi Sumaila in an interaction with the media said “we thought that it is important for a private initiative to help the government in resolving this pandemic so we decided to invest in it.”
He added that it was collaboration between the Fuo Community Hospital and M-Pharma, a pharmaceutical company in Ghana to make available a private testing center in the Northern Region.
Alhaji Iddi Sumaila said the Fuo Community Hospital since its establishment in 2012 has been at the service of the Fuo community by providing jobs and responding to the health needs of the people and the COVID-19 testing center is to provide a moderate testing center for the people in the region.
The Northern Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Braimah B. Abubakari on his part commended the management of the Fuo Community Hospital for investing into management and prevention of the novel coronavirus.
“If we’re getting the private sector coming into the COVID-19 testing space, it means everybody is concerned with the management and prevention of this virus, because the more we delay in getting the results, the more the virus will spread”.
Dr Braimah B. Abubakari also added that, the establishment of a testing center at the Fuo Community Hospital will help strengthen the fight against the COVID-19 since private persons are putting in the needed support.
The PCR at the Fuo Community Hospital is a high-speed facility that takes only 45 minutes to deliver results.
