Dr. Hamza presents 400 dual desks to 11 schools in Kumbungu

Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumbungu constituency, Dr Hamza Adam has presented 400 dual desks to eleven schools within the Kumbungu District.

The intervention is geared towards ending the phenomenon where school pupils sit on the bare floor for classes due to inadequate furniture in some schools within the district.

Speaking to diamondfmonline.com before a handing over ceremony at the Kumbungu district Assembly, Dr Hamza pledged to eradicate the no-furniture situation in the district before his four-year term in office.

“It is my intention that by the time I am ending my four years term in office I should be able to eliminate this challenge we are currently facing in our class rooms to make sure that every teacher and every child had a place to sit during class hours, this is my agenda to uplift the face of the educational sector in the Kumbungu district”, he said.

He further explained that, “furniture is very important because if there is no furniture for students to sit there will be no collaboration between the teacher and the students, so I think that once we are able to address that then we can be definitely marching towards a success story in Kumbungu”.

Dr Hamza indicated that the provision of the furniture was in fulfillment of a pledge he made after visiting some of the schools during the 2020 campaign period.

He noted that, though inadequate furniture for schools remains a major problem in the constituency, frantic efforts are being made to provide a decent learning environment for all students to help improve their performance.

The Kumbungu lawmaker while outlining his intervention so far at the educational sector, also revealed he had spent over GHC 50,000 in supporting some needy but brilliant students within his constituency.

On the maintenances culture, Dr Hamza urged the headteachers, PTA, SMC and the community members of the beneficiary schools to pay attention to the items and put it into good use.

The Kumbungu District Director of Education Bernedete Kafari, while thanking the legislator for the intervention also lauded his efforts towards improving the educational sector within Kumbungu District.

According to her, the gesture will lessen the furniture deficit in most schools in the area.

“You know the development of education does not rest in the hands of one person, the MP is doing what he can do, but community members or PTA need to support to complement the efforts of the MP”, she remarked.
