All You Need to Know About the NRFA Working Committees

The Northern Regional Football Association (NRFA) Chairman Alhaj Abu Hassan Mahamadu Rhyzo has released the names of individuals he wants to assist him fulfill his campaign promises for his first term of office.

The names of all the over 100 individuals were presented by chairman Alhaj Abu Hassan Mahamadu Rhyzos on Diamond FM’s Yelvuhi Saha Sports Show on Tuesday with host Abdul Majeed Abdulai.

The long awaited list had the crème de la crème of football in the region and astute professionals such as lawyers and doctors. Alhaj Abu Hassan Rhyzo also reached out to his opponents during the election for them to serve on the committees. Notable among them is his challenger during the elections Umar Farouk Abdul Karim who has a place in the Disciplinary Committee to serve and he has also shown his magnanimity in accepting the opportunity.

A release from the RFA followed subsequently to confirm the list of members of the working committees for the new administration.  Portions of the release read “the Northern Regional Football Association presents its compliments and wish to inform you that, the following people have been appointed to serve the NRFA.”

The 14 committees and a communications bureau are to serve in the various capacities the chairman has earmarked for them.

Detailing the roles to the performed by the committees, chairman Rhyzos highlighted how important it was for him to add some ‘new’ committees to the traditional ones to be able to effectively handle football issues in the Northern Region.

He said the Ethics Committee will serve to investigate and if found guilty sanction any individual or group who flouts the rules of association football outside of the playing field. He cited the example of a match official who is beaten after the match had ended. He said if the perpetrators are identified, they will be hurled before the ethics committee for due diligence.

Alhaj Rhyzo also mentioned the institution of a medical committee which he said was to ensure certainty in medical attention at all times at match venues. The committee is carefully selected and has competent medical practitioners. It’s also to support clubs medical departments to save the lives of players.

Chairman Rhyzo mentioned the marketing and business development committee and said it was to deal with issues of branding and creating a positive image for the game of football plus securing sponsorships for competitions in the region.

A new data and statistics committee is to keep records of statistics throughout the season so that when award nights are organized annually, no disagreements will ensue. He said they will keep a database of matches played, goals scored, assists made and clean sheets attained by goal keepers.

A protocol and players welfare committee will be chaired by chairman Rhyzo himself which he said will take into consideration all issues relating to players wellbeing and welfare for which a desk will be created to take care of.

A competitions coordinating committee will take charge when competitions are being held. These individuals will facilitate and coordinate whatever will go into the success of these competitions.

The safety compliance and security committee will oversee all matters of safety for players, officials and spectators. Such that grounds for matches are prepared in an atmosphere of peace so that safety measures are adhered to at all times.

For matters of information flow, a communications bureau was also put together such that a communications director takes charge of matters of communication. He will be assisted by Diamond FM’s Mohammed Mutaka as deputy communications director in charge of games. Two other deputies; one in charge of policy and the other in charge of virtual/social media were also named.
