Information gathered by Diamond Sports indicate that the government of Ghana’s meeting with FIFA was successful after a fruitful discussion with FIFA’s delegation last Friday.
After weeks of deliberations on the way forward for Ghana football, a meeting was called at the instance of FIFA, football’s world governing body to be fully briefed on the situation in Ghana.
The news about the meeting sent shock waves among the football people in Ghana with many fearing an eminent ban on the nation’s football.
However, after the said meeting, government issued a statement to allay those fears and this was further echoed by PRO for the ministry, Elvis Adjei Baah in an interview with Diamond Sports last Saturday on Diamond Sports Avenue.
Elvis Adjei Baah reiterated government’s resolve to protect football in Ghana from corruption and criminality and chart a course for improved trust in the way the game is being ran in Ghana.
He added that, after the meeting, an agreement has been reached on the next line of action between Ghana and FIFA and further discussions will continue between the two parties in Zurich, Switzerland.
He further called for calm as steps are being taken to restore normalcy in the game of football in Ghana.
