THERE ARE MANY JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE YOUTH, IN AGRICULTURE – DR. ERNEST ASEIDU OF SAPIP

Ghana has been battling with the challenge of youth unemployed for over decades now, with each passing government attempting to find solutions to this pressing issue of the country.

However, the agricultural sector has been neglected as one of the solutions to youth unemployment especially in the northern region of the country. Explaining on the evening drive show on Diamond 93.7 fm an agronomist with the Savannah Zone Agricultural Productivity Improvement Project (SAPIP) – Dr. Ernest Aseidu, indicates the vast job opportunities that are readily available for the youth in the agricultural sector.

‘The agricultural sector is a whole chain that can absorb the youth at every stage, there is medicine in agriculture, there is mechanic and even now there is a digital expect of agriculture that the youth can tap into, there is a lot of job opportunities in agriculture without necessary going to the filed’ Say Dr. Aseidu

There are so many NGO’s that are readily available to help the youth who are interested in agriculture, including the ministry of agriculture, he added.

Savannah Zone Agricultural Productivity improvement project (SAPIP) is a partnership between African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Government of Ghana, a program that is aimed at transforming agriculture in the savannah zone into a competitive and inclusive agribusiness sector that creates wealth and improves livelihoods in an environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable manner.
