• Economic Challenges in 2015 under the Mahama Regime were not borne out of Incompetence. – Isaac Adongo responds to Veep Bawumia

Bolgatanga Central MP, Isaac Adongo says the challenges that confronted Ghana’s economy in 2015 were not borne out of incompetence contrary to what their successors the NPP would want the world to believe.

He said the economy then was faced several challenges because China and United States which are the largest economies were all going through similar economic difficulties and Ghana which exports were mainly cocoa and gold suffered much and could not have insulated itself from such external shocks.

Delivering a counter presentation on the economy following the NPP’s government Town Hall Meeting that was addressed by Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahamoud Bawumia on Wednesday, Isaac Adongo said Ghana in 2015 under the Mahama government, had to go to the International Monetary Fund in order to boost investor confidence among the international community and also to keep the economy on track.

The NDC’s event which had the former President John Mahama, present, It was organized by the coalition for restoration, a pro-ndc group.

Isaac Adongo cautioned Vice president Mahamoud Bawumia, not to further embarrassed Ghana by churning out cooked figures that were misleading and could spell doom for the country’s development in the future. According to him, the cedi is still among the worst performing currencies since whatever is borrowed is currently spend on consumption much to other needs like infrastructure.

Ghana he said is at a crossroad because managers of the economy do not seem to know what to do salvage the economy.

Other who addressed the NDC’s forum include Keelson Ato Forson, a former deputy minister of finance and MP, former education minister, Prof. Nanaa Opoku Agyeman, Deputy Finance Minister, Mona Quartey, Fiffi Kwetey and John Abdulai Jinapor who addressed the energy sector.
