Buya Chief takes on Kpandai DISEC over continuous operation of “misinformative” information Centre in the area

The Chief of Buya a farming community in the Kpandai District of the Northern Region, Nana Najombe Ababio, has hit hard at the Kpandai District Security Council (DISEC) for its decision to issue a permit to one Abdulai Sanja poplar known as ’90’ to continue operating his information Centre in the area.

According to the Chief, the community was threatened by the activities of ’90’ through his Information Centre however, DISEC defiled all the complains from “my palace” and issued him with a permit.

Nana Ababio mentioned that, DISEC was supposed to be working to ensure peace in the district but rather was backing Abdulai Sanja to preach violence through his airwaves in the area.

He said Abdulai Sanja who is also a headteacher at Buya Primary School, instead of using his Information Centre to promote peace and unity within the community, rather was using the medium to incite the community members among each other, alleging that ’90’ through his platform, made some proclamations inciting Konkobas against Baares within the community.

The Chief indicated that, his outfit ordered the closure of the Centre after noticing the security threats of his activities, but the Kpandai District Chief Executive (DCE) Emmanuel Kofi Tatabilata who is also the chairman of DISEC gave him the green light to operate after issuing a business permit certificate to him.

The Chief while expressing worry over the decision by DISEC also indicated that “currently there is tension within the community as a result of Abdulai Sanja’s activities through his airwaves”.

Nana Ababio in an interview with diamondfmonline.com also explained that, “over the last few months Sanja set on his Information Centre which was established by his political party for its activities in the 2016 general elections, to denounced me as a Chief of the area”.

He narrated further that “he did not stop after this serious act; he also went ahead to mislead the community members saying I have been removed as Chief of Buya, and someone was appointed hence community members should desist from paying homage to my palace”.

Nana Najombe claimed the actions by Sanja is affecting the community negatively since the community is already known as a volatile area. “Community members are now leaving in fear, and we have reported his activities to the security but their approach has been very poor.

“The youth wanted to vandalize the Centre but I called them to order, because we are law abiding people. Even if ’90’ doing any wrong, they shouldn’t act same. What we want is that, we want him to stop operating because he’s making the area uncomfortable for us”, he added.

Meanwhile, the Kpandai District Chief Executive, Emmanuel Kofi Tatabilata, speaking to diamondfmonline.com on phone however said DISEC gave Sanja a permit to operate, but DISEC is not aiding him to disrespect or foment trouble in the area as its been claimed by the Chief in the area.

DISEC after the ruling asked ’90’ to go and apologize to the Chief for his previous misconduct towards him, and cautioned him against using the Centre to give out any wrong information again.

“I am surprised about his (Chief) claims. If he thinks that he disagrees with the decision by DISEC, he should have appealed, but not to lie against people, and did he think he knows security more then DISEC”? he queried?

The DCE also indicated the Chief, Nana Ababio is demanding the closure of 90’s Information Center because he (Nana Ababio) is also doing same business in the community.

“He Nana said because he is the chief in the area he should only operate and nobody else. Why will you close someone’s business without the fellow doing anything contrary to the rules of the country”, he asked.

Emmanuel Kofi Tatabilata, also reacting to the Chief’s assertion said his priority as a DCE in the area is to ensure total peace and development to prevail in the area.

“Nobody is against anyone. All what we are doing as DISEC is to ensure peace in the area, so that everybody can do small jobs to feed his or her family. That is the reason why we ordered Abdulai Sanja to go and apologize to the Chief for his previous misconduct towards him. Nobody is aiding 90 to disrespect the Chief “, he clarified.

On his part the Kpandai District Police Commander DSP Richard Lamptey Odartey, also denied Nana Ababio claims, saying “if the Chief want the guy to stop operating then he should send him to court or report him to the police, but he has no authority to order the closure of the Centre because he was not the one who gave him the permit”.

“We asked him to operate by then we also asked him to render apology to the Chief but not to seek any clearance from him before operating”, he added.
